Welcome to my Substack!
Here's some stuff you should know...
Welcome to Anne Ruining Everything (title subject to change)! This is a space I’m making to share pieces of my writing, obviously. This page is, among other things, a solution to the struggle I’ve faced with finding motivation to write when not under a deadline set by a teacher or employer. I have my fingers crossed that I’ll be adequately motivated by the horrifying thought of making a Substack then never posting to it. We’ll see.
I hope to see my voice as a writer refine and mature through the process of sharing my work, and I hope you will see it too. I wondered for a long time if it was cheap or lazy to put out blog-quality writing when I hope to eventually produce work that will be considered higher caliber. But having experienced enough isolation in the past three years, I see no need to skip out on the opportunity to connect with an audience, however small it may be, and benefit from the feedback of others during my evolution as a writer.
I plan on posting different genres of writing on here. I toy with creative fiction and non-fiction, as well as poetry. For those of you who don’t know, I started doing standup comedy in 2021 and found a home in the DC comedy scene. I have not taken as well to the standup scene where I currently live, so writing out ideas that may have been standup bits into longer pieces has been my creative outlet recently. So, the posts will mostly aim to be funny. I will reserve blatant trauma dumping for a point at which I feel more desperate for follows and attention.
I understand that the things I post on here will likely impact my future credit score. Hopefully the robot responsible for my sentencing one day will have a sense of irony. Until that day comes I hope that you, dearest lovely reader, understand that nothing here is meant to be taken too seriously. I’ve been told “I can never tell when you’re joking” enough times to expect that to happen a few times here.
It means the world to me that you would join my email list. Some of you probably had to type out your whole email address instead of having it autofill. I can’t say that I would do the same, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Xoxoxo

Yay!! Welcome to the newsletter journey! Excited to read along and heckle if you ever need motivation for these self-imposed deadlines <3
